Anywhere With Jesus

This morning at the breakfast table, my son Abraham ran to his room saying, "Mom, I want you to sing us a song!" He came back to the table with an old hymnal in his hand. Well, before I opened the book, I asked the Lord to lead me to a song that He wanted me to sing. I opened to a song called "Anywhere With Jesus" which I have neither sung nor heard. But, I decided to give it a try, and the words touched me so deeply that I wanted to share them with you.

In light of our soon coming trip to Ethiopia to bring our daughter home, hopefully in March, I felt that the Lord was speaking His word to me. I have never been out of this country, and have never left my sons anywhere for over a week, but through the words of this old song, I was comforted and encouraged to follow without fear. I pray these words will bless you as well, and that our Lord Jesus will speak to you through them in whatever circumstance you find yourself today.

Anywhere With Jesus
by Daniel B. Towner, 1850-1919

Anywhere with Jesus, I can safely go
Anywhere He leads me in this world below;
Anywhere without Him, dearest joys would fade;
Anywhere with Jesus, I am not afraid.

Chorus:
Anywhere! Anywhere! Fear I cannot know;
Anywhere with Jesus, I can safely go.

Anywhere with Jesus I am not alone;
Other friends may fail me, He is still my own;
Tho' His hand may lead me over dreary ways;
Anywhere with Jesus is a house of praise.

Anywhere with Jesus over land and sea,
Telling souls in darkness of salvation free;
Ready as He summons me to go or stay,
Anywhere with Jesus when He points the way.

Anywhere with Jesus I can go to sleep,
When the dark'ning shadows round about me creep;
Knowing I shall waken never more to roam,
Anywhere with Jesus will be home, sweet home.

Chorus:
Anywhere! Anywhere!
Fear I cannot know;
Anywhere with Jesus, I can safely go!

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
