What A Blessing!

What a blessing! Today, I got to speak over the phone with Patty Anglin, founder of the Acres of Hope orphanage in Liberia, Africa. This is the orphanage that we desire to work with in order to adopt our little girl. A month or so ago, I read Patty's book entitled Acres of Hope which is the biography/testimony of her life and ministry. My husband just "happened" to find this book in a disount warehouse bookstore in Gatlinburg, TN a few months ago. He was just glancing at the shelves and spotted this book. Not knowing anything about Patty, only that he saw the title was the same as the orphanage we had decided to pursue for our adoption, he bought the book for $2 for me. What a wonderful way in which the Lord works...amazing ways! It was such a confirmation and encouragement to me just the time when I needed it most.

Her book was truly inspiring. She and her husband have adopted 15 special needs children over the years, as well as having her own biological children and have fostered many, many more. The stories she tells are simply heartbreaking yet so redeeming as well. I believe she and her husband are amazing people of God, and I was so honored to speak with her on the phone today. I was so surprised when she answered, "This is Patty." I was just shocked! Her voice sounded as sweet and sincere as she did in her book, and she so blessed me today.

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
