Paperwork...and More Paperwork

Today we woke up "while it was still night time" (according to Abraham) and headed for Louisville, KY. We had an appointment with an immigration officer at the UCICS building there to file our orphan petition and to be fingerprinted. This is just one of the many forms that are required when going through the adoption process. The Lord answered our prayers that our time spent in the offices there would not be long and tedious, and they weren't! We were in and out of the building in less than an hour. What a blessing, especially for Abraham and Micah! We even had time for a fun picnic by the Ohio River on our way back. A pleasant day it was!

Welcoming a little child into our home is becoming more and more of a reality each and every day as we work through the mounds of paperchasing in this process. Yet, what is the value of a child without a family worth? Is it worth a little bit of running here and there, filling out papers, filing, paying fees, making phone calls, etc? I should say it is worth far more than what we could ever go through here on earth. In fact, my Lord Jesus Christ went through things inexplicably greater and heavier in order to do His Father's will than mere paperwork.

He went to the very depths of despair, being separated from His Father, with all the world's sin cast upon Him, so that He could make a way for me; so He could make a way for all mankind; so He could give hope to the hopeless and be a father to the fatherless for all of eternity.

Thank you, dearest Jesus, that you submitted yourself unto death, even death on a cross, that you obeyed your Father. Thank you that you didn't waiver or give up in fulfilling the Father's destiny for your life. Help me to count the cost, to pick up my cross, and to follow hard after thee...Amen.

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
