Renewing With The Word

Getting back to the anger issue today...

I am finding much help in overcoming this habitual sin in my life through the Word of God and prayer. Sounds so simple, doesn't it? But truly, the Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword, and it certainly divides the bones and the marrow. It is about replacing the Word of God with our carnal mind's way of thinking. This is the renewing process, and it is a daily process.

One scripture that I find very confronting and helpful is this one:

Do not be eager in your heart to be angry, for anger resides in the bosom of fools.
Ecclesiastes 7:9

This certainly cuts to the point. Who wants to be considered a fool? Not I! But how do we overcome this anger? Where does it come from? Until we truly examine ourselves to find the source of our struggle with anger, we may never really be able to overcome it. There is possibly more than one source. One source which I have certainly found in my life is unmet expectations or goals. Even something as simple as, "I really want to get this house cleaned up," may not be met that day, which can cause us to become angry at whoever has stood in the way of our "best-laid plans."

Often, these issues cover an underlying issue of disappointment or failure that we feel in ourselves. We have no sense of accomplishment in life. We feel that we drudge through each day with routine tasks and chores. This can be especially painful in the life of a mother. Therefore, our anger is unleashed toward the perceived objects standing in our way to freedom.

One major hurdle to cross is just knowing what the many issues could be in our lives. When we obtain this wisdom and knowledge about what is going on inside of us, the anger begins to lessen its hold and grip upon our lives, and the blinders begin to fall off. We begin to have hope that all will not stay this way forever, and that we can experience victory over this stronghold.

I encourage you today, my friends, we are overcomers through the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. What is our testimony with regard to anger? Do we give it full vent and make the anger our testimony? Or do we allow the God of the universe to come in and break our hearts and let the light of His Word shine in the dark places of our hearts?

Love to you!

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
