The orphanage where Elroi came from was a Catholic-based orphanage and was supposed to be one of the better orphanages in Addis. The 2 Italian nuns who ran the orphanage seemed to be extremely loving and caring women. How amazing that they had given their lives to care for the abandoned and orphaned children of Ethiopia. Even though this orphanage was a better place for the children to be than the government-based orphanages, it was still heart-wrenching to say the least when we made a walk through the rooms.

There were so many precious children there. My heart was bursting, and I cannot describe the emotions that were waving through me.

The sadness really hit me when I was outside in the courtyard with Elroi in my arms and was watching all the children looking at me. I could not control my tears. My adoption coordinator told me that some of the children were asking, "Why is she crying? Her baby is so cute!" I was weeping as I watched the longing in the eyes of the children, who seemed to be saying in some far-away, subconscious way, "I wish that were me in her arms." Here are some of the beautiful children we saw that day; the beloved of the Lord.

Beautiful children... what an amazing experience you had!
