Journey to Ethiopia (Part 2)

Our journey to Ethiopia was a one-of-a-kind adventure. So much happened, it is hard to put into words. But, here are a few initial pictures we took upon on arrival. This was the guesthouse in which we stayed. It was very nice for the area, and was much like many of the homes in the neighborhood. Each home had a wall around it, and it was called a "compound."

We were greeted the second day with a lovely Ethiopian meal, and it was so delicious. I am a huge fan of injera now, which is the traditional bread that is eaten in Ethiopia. I loved it. Now I just need to learn to make it!

Our compound was guarded by Corsa, a wonderful young man who we just fell in love with. He is the gatekeeper for the guesthouse. He sleeps in the little room you see just behind him. What an amazing spirit he had! He was just 20 years old, but so mature and full of the Lord. We were so blessed to become friends.

The following pictures were taken as we walked on the streets just outside of our compound. There was a diversity in the homes we saw, from very large mansions to small tin shacks. The people were extremely beautiful and warm, and the children were so precious. Although I certainly didn't know their names, the Lord knows each and every one. They are special to Him.

Enjoy the pictures, and I will hopefully be back tomorrow to post more.

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
