Well, we are back from our journey to the famous Niagra Falls, and it was a wonderful time. Nami and I went as a special getaway with one another, and it was a very special time spent exploring, adventuring, talking, dreaming and relaxing. We had some very interesting conversations along the way and a lot of laughs as well. We stayed on the Canadian side of the border, and our view of the Horseshoe Falls was amazing. We were way up on the 26th floor and we could see it all. We could even hear the falls when we cracked our window just a tad. It was a relaxing, gushing sound floating up to the skies. The above picture reminded me of the "Great Cloud of Witnesses" mentioned in Hebrews. We are truly never alone!
Some very real fears of heights and falling were brought to the surface during this trip. I kept picturing someone tumbling over the edge of the railing, namely me or Nami! Nami was teasing and leaning a little out over the edge, and I felt like I was going to come unglued! I literally could not sleep without images of the water's edge and the horrifying thoughts of flipping over the side. The Lord revealed the verse to me that basically says that God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power of love and a sound mind. I spoke this over and over out loud to myself every time that thought would come. It really helped! Speaking God's Word aloud is so powerful.
Truly, the Niagra is an astounding river and these falls are amazing as well. We saw an Imax movie of the history and all the crazy daredevils over the years who have gone over the falls in barrels and all sorts of contraptions. A few lived to tell about it.
Overall, the trip was fabulous. On Saturday, we decided to journey into Buffalo, NY and visit a Messianic Jewish Synagogue there. The place was filled with so much peace and love. We were late getting there, but they were just getting started with the teaching time. They had been worshipping a long time and still were when we got there. The people were just so warm and down-to-earth. A great learning experience for us...
Enjoy the pictures...I especially like the one of Nami, the Druid man, and me looking terrified by the falls. I am telling you, the place is not safe. I would NOT take my children to the overlooks. It was just amazing how unsafe it really was. Phew, gotta go say my verse again before I get all worked up! :)
