Davidic Worship -- Absolutely Glorious!

Our pastor, Pastor Brad, is currently teaching a series on worship and praise to our congregation, and it is absolutely wonderful. I am amazed and in awe with the Lord's timing for all of these teachings to be occuring while the Lord has also been showing us about the Messianic roots of our Christian heritage. I want to share a few highlights from his teaching in our gathering today. He was speaking to us about "Davidic Worship." Below is a summary of what was shared:

Davidic Worship is...

New Testament worship is according to "Davidic" Order. King David was the architect of worship in the Bible. His order of worship is reflected in the Psalms. The New Testament Church worshipped according to the Davidic Order of worship. Davidic Worship involves exuberant, full-bodied worship, again, reflected throughout the book of Psalm.

1. Praising God with our Voice or Mouth (Psalm 42:4)
This involves speaking, singing, and shouting. There are many Psalms which speak of these.

2. Praising God with our Hands
This entails lifting, clapping, and playing instruments with our hands.

3. Praising God with our Bodies
Standing, kneeling and dancing are all ways which the Psalms speaks of worshipping God.

Pastor Brad taught that in the Hebrew, the word for "praise" is actually 7 different words, each with a different meaning. In our English Bibles, only one word is used to signify these seven, so many of us have no idea about the 7 Hebrew ways to praise.

Tehilah -- To praise by singing songs of worship
Halal -- To dance in celebration before the Lord
Shabach -- To praise with a shout, to cry aloud
Todah -- To praise with uplifted, raised, or clapping hands
Zamar -- To praise with music
Barak -- To bow down in praise
Yadah -- To extend the arms and hands

My friends, I want to assure you that it is in NO WAY "radical" or "fanatical" to worship the Lord in this way. It is our "reasonable service" to give the Lord what He desires and what He has ordained. To follow the precepts of God in Davidic worship is not the "fringe movement," it is purely Biblical and expected!

As the Truth of the full counsel of God's Word has been squelched through centuries of trying to remove everything which seemed remotely "Jewish," we have lost foundational principles that are essential to our walk of faith in Christ. Hundreds of years of anti-semitism within the Church has weakened and nearly suffocated the freedom our Father God has given us to use our mind, spirits and bodies to praise and worship Him. Thus, countless of us have never experienced or known our Messiah in an intimate and personal way.

I believe the Spirit is moving in the hearts of many and there is an awakening in the body of Christ of these wonderful revelations which the Lord wants to be restored within all of His Church and His Bride...

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
