Well, the weekend has come and gone. My father's family met for a reunion in the Sevierville, TN city park. We all ate together, enjoyed seeing each other and remarking, "My how your kids are growing!" The children played water games, having an hilarious time squirting each other with water guns, running races with soaking sponges on top of their heads, and slingshotting water balloons in the air. Needless to say, Abraham and Micah were completely pooped!
My father is one of seven brothers and sisters, so our family is quite large, as you can see. It is a blessing that the siblings make an effort each year to gather everyone together for an event like this. Even when I was a child, I always looked forward to the reunions as a very special time. My grandparents were also able to attend, even though they are getting up in years. They were still able to join us, and what a blessing that is.
Overall, it was a relaxing weekend spent catching up and building relationships within my family. I am thankful for such a time to do that. On Sunday, we visited the Gatlinburg Aquarium, and it was a real treat! Micah saw a shark swim over his head and got a bit frightened. He spent most of the tour with his head buried in Daddy's shoulder! Abraham was in awe with all of the underwater attractions and was very excited to be there.
The down part of the trip was that on the way home, my dear hubby and I were just bickering like two wet hens about absolutely nothing! We were in our flesh and not in the Spirit! Sometimes trips can bring out this side of people, I believe, because of the "little foxes" that Solomon speaks of in the Song of Solomon. Yet, our God is a restorer, and He restored our souls back into their proper places. I thank my Lord that He is so faithful, even when we are not.
