Today was a typical summer day in the South, complete with running through the sprinklers and jumping on the backyard trampoline while the water kept us cool. It is wonderful to see how my sons enjoy the simplest treasures of life, such as going for rides in the car, playing hide and seek, wrestling with each other, going to the park, riding their bikes, watching the squirrels, and a variety of other sundry things.
I asked Abraham what he wanted people to know about this picture. He said, "I like to jump on the trampoline with the sprinkler because it's fun!" Micah said, "I love to jump on the trampoline with my brother." Children are so simple, and we are called to be like children when it comes to our faith in God as well. When we have faith like a child, we see the simple things of life and appreciate their inherit beauty. We learn to live in the moment, instead of planning ahead and ignoring the opportunity right in front of our eyes. Each day is truly filled with surprises that await us if we will only see through the eyes of a child.
So, take a jump on the trampoline with your children. Run through the sprinklers. Laugh and play. Carpe diem!
