First Day Of The Blog World

Well, here I am, blogging. I am not exactly sure that I need to have this blog page, being as I have plenty to do in my life right now. Yet, I will give it a go and see what happens. I just don't want to be a time-waster or a procrastinator, which is what I naturally tend to do. I desire to be a good steward of my time, yet I am definitely a work in progress.

Today was a good day at home with the boys. We did the usual routine. Went to the YMCA, went to the grocery store, came home, packed a lunch and went to a friend's house for the afternoon. We ate on her patio while watching the children play then moved ourselves to the front lawn under the shade of a big pear tree. We talked about everything and nothing while again watching the children play, ride their bikes and argue over who got to do what. A summer day in Kentucky!

I am so thankful that I have had the opportunity to stay at home with my sons as they grow. I used to resent being "stuck" at home when my first born Abraham was a baby. Yet, now I see that I was very selfish and near-sighted, not looking at the bigger picture and the blessings of my life. I wouldn't trade this 6 and a half years of my life at all, and I pray it continues. Since we are planning to homeschool, I will be putting my hours in "on the job" in a hopefully more organized way as well, but who knows. Life is all about learning, and it is the best school. I believe I need the homeschool life just as much or more than my sons even! I need to discipline myself in areas and be challenged in a different way than I have previously been.

Well, I am sitting here certainly missing my husband who is in Iran at the moment. He is due back in a few days, and it can't be soon enough. I found myself wrapping my arms quietly around his shirts hanging in the closet this morning and breathing in the scent of him. Mushy, I know. Blessings to all this evening...

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
