Off To The Family Reunion

Well, tomorrow we will be traveling to the Volunteer state of Tennessee for a family reunion in Gatlinburg. It is about a 5 hour drive from here in Hoptown, but it should be a fairly scenic journey, so I am looking forward to it. My sons are so excited to be going somewhere. They each packed their bags tonight (with my help of course!) And Abraham sat both bags by the front door before bedtime. He might be my world traveler! Who knows! Or, better yet, he could be a world changer!

I am very blessed to be a part of a large extended family who has always made it a priority to have reunions and get-togethers at least once a year. Although my father is one of seven children, they are all well-connected to one another and very caring. My grandparents pictured here are both living and are such a sweet couple, having been married over 60 years. The last visit they made to our home, my grandmother who we call "Nanny" said to my Papa, "Close the door, babe." I just relished in hearing this wonderful term of endearment being used by my grandparents who are now in their mid-80's. What an incredible blessing to be able to spend your life with your mate and still call him sweet and loving names even in your golden years. I will always cherish that memory.

I must be off to my bed now. I should have been off an hour ago, but here I am. I love the stillness and quiet time of the night, with all the lights off and only the sound of the dishwasher swishing in the background. It is so peaceful that I don't want to go to bed! But, I had better go, because the Smokey's will be calling, and so will my boys...bright and early I am afraid!

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
