A Sunbeam Memory

Today at Ellie's naptime, I was reading to her The Little Golden Book of Hymns, and I came across this little tune I have not heard since childhood. What sweet memories it brought to my heart. I remember singing this as a child. I feel that these beautiful hymns often are quite overlooked in many churches today, and it is well worth it to teach songs such as these to our little ones.

Click on the link to hear the tune for yourself, and even teach the song to your children if they don't know it already. Singing at the table before dinner can be a special time as well, so maybe even try it then! May you be blessed, and may we all truly be sunbeams for Jesus today!

(Be sure and pause my music playlist.)
To listen to the tune, go HERE.

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
To shine for Him each day;
In ev'ry way try to please Him,
At home, at school, at play.

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I'll be a sunbeam for Him.

Jesus wants me to be loving,
And kind to all I see;
Showing how pleasant and happy
His little one can be.

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I'll be a sunbeam for Him.

I will ask Jesus to help me,
To keep my heart from sin;
Ever reflecting His goodness,
And always shine for Him.

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I'll be a sunbeam for Him.

I'll be a sunbeam for Jesus;
I can if I but try;
Serving Him moment by moment,
Then live with Him on high.

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I'll be a sunbeam for Him.

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
