Fathers and Daughters

I was extremely moved by today's topic on the Focus On The Family radio program. They were talking about the importance of Father/Daughter relationships and how those relationships affect the rest of a woman's life in terms of her other relationships with men, in particular.

Now, this topic is nothing new to me, per se, as I have currently been reading "Captivating" which deals with this very topic quite in depth. Yet, this 2-part interview on Focus touches me so deeply, and I want to encourage each of you to take a few minutes and just listen. Listen to this father and his family's experience.

If you are a woman...tune in and let the tears flow freely. If you are a man who has a daughter or who ever plans to have children one day...please, I entreat you sincerely, listen to this and be encouraged and/or convicted and/or changed. If you are a young girl, listen and then prayerfully share it with your Dad. If you are a single mom, please listen, as they address your special needs as well. This broadcast could change the destiny of your daughter's life...and yours, and I believe it will. It is that important.

No matter how young or old you or your daughter may be, it is not too late to make the steps of love toward her. It is never too late, as long as you are alive, to make a new beginning of your relationship together. I cannot stress to you the importance of your effort and your investment into your daughter's life.

It is so incredibly tragic how a lack of knowledge and understanding, not to mention an apathy in this area has caused damage to so many women. Read this quote:

"The research clearly says that daddies make all the difference in the world," says Kevin Leman, national speaker and author of What a Difference Daddy Makes. "I have tremendously more impact on my daughter than my wife does."

Dads, you can be your daughter's hero. You can be a shining example of her Heavenly Father in this life. You can help heal her wounded heart like no other human on this earth can. Reach out, earthly fathers. Rescue your little girl!

This is a two-part series. I encourage you to listen to both, but even if you only have time for one, listen anyway. Just click HERE and then click on the Listen to Daily Broadcast link.

I like Dr. Kevin Leman too. I met him when helping him produce his video series "Value Packed Parenting."

Since then, I've supported his efforts to make parenting easier by devoting a blog to his video series.

I think his latest book release "How to Have a New Kid by Friday" is good too.

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
