Stolen Identity and A Snapping Turtle

You may be wondering what a case of identity theft and a snapping turtle could possibly have in common. Well, someone decided to steal my credit card info, etc, off of the internet and proceeded to charge some things to our checking account! That was fun to find out! So, we've been trying to get that straightened out, and as I was walking this morning thinking over the trials of life, I stumbled upon this little baby snapping turtle just staring up at me. If I would've had the energy to run this morning, I would have never seen this little guy (or gal). So, I was cheered and thankful to find Snappy in my path.

You know, a turtle's home is his shell. When he is scared, he just coils his body back inside and hides. He walks around with his home essentially on his back at all times. It reminded me of how when we place our confidence in this world, in the things of the world, then we are like a turtle with no defense, who has no shell. Because life in this world will leave us empty and abandoned. Yet, we are not without hope! Ours is the hope of glory! Our home is not this world. We are pilgrims, sojourners, looking for a city which is not of this world, but of the kingdom of God.

I am so thankful that I, as God's beloved child, can be like this turtle, and run into the shelter of the Most High at all times. My home is in heaven, which is in my heart. I can find my refuge in Him when all else seems to fall around me. Wherever our hope is placed, it is misplaced if it is not in Christ alone. Though the prince of the air may steal, kill and destroy all we have materially, he cannot steal what is eternal, my home in heaven, my relationship with Christ.

Be encouraged, friends! Hide in the shelter of His Wings in the face of every storm of life. All things work together for the good of those who love Jesus and are called according to His purposes!

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
