The Feast of Pentecost

As some of you may know, I am learning so much about the Jewish roots of our faith, and it is so much building me up in this most holy faith! This Sunday is Pentecost or Shavuot. It is a wonderful time, so filled with meaning for us as followers of our Lord Jesus or "Yeshua" in Hebrew. Learning about these feasts or "appointed times" with God have opened up so much meaning to me in the Word of God.

Now, some of you have probably been conditioned into thinking that a person who learns about the roots of their faith or observes the "Old-Testament" feasts is going "back under the law." Not at all! We have perfect freedom in our Lord, and it is not a matter of salvation as to whether one observes the feasts or not. It is a choice; a choice I personally believe illuminates and magnifies the wonder of the Messiah. He is shown throughout each and every celebration. Whatever we can do to bring us closer to our Lord, I believe this is worth doing! So, now you know, I am not a "Judaizer", I am a Jesus lover!

The book of Ruth is traditionally read on Pentecost, and a friend of mine gave me a great article on this awesome day. Click on this site, Jewish Jewels.org to read this very informative, inspirng article about this holy day. I was so blessed to read this, as I have always loved the book of Ruth. Our kinsman-redeemer, Jesus, is so good to his children. May the eyes of your heart be enlightened and may you be filled with all understanding! May you be brought closer to our Lord as you remember this appointment with God and as you read Ruth with delight! Shalom!

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
