What's In A Name?

A few days ago, our adoption coordinator shared with us the meaning of our little girl's Amharic (Ethiopian language) name. It comes from the Hebrew name “Beer-lahai-roi (Genesis 16: 14) and is spelled "Elroi." This word is translated from the Hebrew to mean "well of a living (One) my Seer."

The more I have dwelt upon her name, the more amazed I am how at how God is confirming through her name that He does see her. He is watching over her. He not only sees her, but He loves her perfectly. My heart is pouring out for His good and perfect will to be done in her life. And not only hers, but the precious lives of the millions of orphans around the world this very night.

My Father,
I pray in the name of your son Yeshua (Jesus) and by the power of the blood of the Lamb who was slain. I lift up to your throne every orphan on this earth right now, and I pray for them. Father, it is overwhelming to even imagine, but God, nothing is too big for me to bring to you. I pray that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I pray for many families all over the world to rise up and receive these children into their hearts and homes. I pray that your love would reach every child, that we, your chosen ones, would truly be your hands and feet to show forth your heart, the Father's love for those who are oppressed, hopeless, and poor.

Dear Father, I pray that your Holy Spirit would comfort them tonight wherever they are, that they might hear your voice of love speaking to their hearts. I pray that you would protect them with angels encamped around them. Lord, I pray that they would feel your arms around them when no one else's arms are there to hold them, to rock them, to sing to them. Father, you are singing over them, and I am so thankful. Father, in the name of Jesus, please break my heart more and more with compassion toward the hurting, the oppressed, the needy, the hungry, the helpless, the lonely, and the lost. Help us as your Body to walk in love, in compassion, in mercy, and in power to do your perfect will in our lives.

In the holy and precious Name above every name, Jesus. Amen

Amen. Lord Jesus, I add my voice to hers. Love on these children whom you know by name. Whom you are pursuing for eternity. For whom you are calling us to be a part of your work. . .thank you, Jesus!

It doesn't take monumental feats to make the world a better place. It can be as simple as letting someone go ahead of you in a grocery line.
